Isabella Haddow was 8 years old when recorded by the 1861 census for 2 Craig's Close, High Street, Edinburgh. She was a scholar and recorded as having been born in the Greyfriars district of Edinburgh.

Isabella Hadden [sic] was recorded by the 1871 census living at 2 Craig Close, High Street, Edinburgh. She was unmarried, aged 18 years, and worked as a dressmaker. She had been born in Edinburgh.

The 1881 census recorded Isabella Thomson, and her son George Thomson, living in her mother's household at 2 Craig's Close, 265 High Street Edinburgh. Isabella was listed as a married woman of 28 years of age, born in Edinburgh St Giles, and who worked as a dressmaker.

Isabella Thomson, daughter of the deceased, was the informant of Isabella Haddow's death in 1885.


Isabella married George Thomson KENNEDY, son of James KENNEDY and Grace THOMSON, on 10 July 1874 in 6 Keir Street, Edinburgh, Scotland. (George Thomson KENNEDY was born about 1851.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was performed after banns and according to the forms of the Original Seceders Church. The minister was James Smellie, Minister of the original Secession Church. The witnesses were Charles Gordon Moir and Margaret Haddow.

George Morrison Kennedy was a journeyman house painter aged 22. A bachelor, he lived at 21 Haddington Place Edinburgh. Both of his parents were deceased.

Isabella Haddow was a dressmaker and unmarried. She was 21 years old and lived at 5 Brown Street Edinburgh.

The marriage was registered on 13 July 1874, Robert Dick being the signing registrar.
