Note:

Thanks to Mike Wade for highlighting the above reference, as well as much other information surrounding David Strachan of Carmyllie and his various wives and offspring. In his email he comments on the name of David Strachan's spouse:

"d) TSP Vol 8, page 57, says that Mary Carnegie married 'Strachan of Carmyle', and that her sister Christian Carnegie is mentioned only in her father's will - the latter statement is clearly false, so I think Mary and Christian have been confused."

The History of the Carnegies, on page 44 also lists as a daughter of Robert Carnegie:

"Mary, who married Strachan of Carmyle, in the same county."

Christian immediately follows Mary on the list of children. David's wife may have carried both names, and/or she was familiarly called by one name, and the other was formal only. 2 3 8 9

David next married Isabel GRAY, daughter of Patrick GRAY 4th Lord Gray and Marion OGILVY, 4 September 1563 (contract).4 (Isabel GRAY was born about 1552 and died on 20 October 1589 4.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Isabel (Gray), married, first (contract dated 4 September 1563), to David Strachan of Carmylie"

from Scots Peerage (vol 4) 4
