The lands and barony of Carnegie, from which the surname of Carnegie is derived, are situated in the shire of Forfar, and lie about midway between Carmylie and Panmure, in the parish of Carmylie. 4
Christian married David STRACHAN 8th of Carmyllie, son of Thomas STRACHAN 7th of Carmyllie and Isobel OGILVY, 25 May 1559 (contract).1 2 (David STRACHAN 8th of Carmyllie was born about 1536 and died by 6 July 1576 5.)

Thanks to Mike Wade for highlighting the above reference, as well as much other information surrounding David Strachan of Carmyllie and his various wives and offspring. In his email he comments on the name of David Strachan's spouse:
"d) TSP Vol 8, page 57, says that Mary Carnegie married 'Strachan of Carmyle', and that her sister Christian Carnegie is mentioned only in her father's will - the latter statement is clearly false, so I think Mary and Christian have been confused."
The History of the Carnegies, on page 44 also lists as a daughter of Robert Carnegie:
"Mary, who married Strachan of Carmyle, in the same county."
Christian immediately follows Mary on the list of children. David's wife may have carried both names, and/or she was familiarly called by one name, and the other was formal only. 1 2 4 6
