When Margaret Chalmers Pirie died in 1900, her death certificate recorded her as the widow of William Robinson Pirie DD Principal of Aberdeen University.
When his son, George, died in 1904, William Robinson Pirie, his father, was recorded as "the principal of the University of Aberdeen (deceased)". 2 3
William married Margaret CHALMERS-FORBES, daughter of Reverend Mr Lewis William FORBES Minister of Boharm and Penelope COWIE, on 24 March 1842 in Boharm parish, Banffshire, Scotland. (Margaret CHALMERS-FORBES was born on 14 July 1821, baptised on 3 August 1821 in Boharm parish, Banffshire, Scotland and died 8 April 1900 at 8.45 am in Sunnybank House, Aberdeen, Scotland 2 3.). The cause of her death was chronic Bright's Disease and cerebral haemorrhage over 10 days.
