Both the given names Mary/Margaret and the parentage of the wife of Alexander Irvine are confused in some secondary sources, and the researcher should beware where the matter of parentage creates an impossibility with regard to dates. 7


Marie married Alexander IRVINE 11th of Drum, son of Alexander IRVINE 10th of Drum, Sheriff Principal of Aberdeen and Magdalene SCRIMGEOUR, 7 or 8 December 1643.1 2 3 4 (Alexander IRVINE 11th of Drum was born about 1620 and died in 1687.)
