  General Notes:

William Winton and his wife Helen were listed in the household of Charles and Ann Brown in the 1841 census for Dean Village, Edinburgh. Their address was 'Water of Leith Dean Path'. Charles and Ann Brown were William's sister and brother in law. William was an engineer (journeyman) and aged in the 30-34 years age group. He had been born in Midlothian.

When William died in 1874, his death certificate recorded him as an 'engineer married to Helen Allan' and aged 62 years. Both of his parents were dead by then. 2
