Catherine married Sir George LAUDER of Haltoun, son of Sir Alexander LAUDER of Haltoun and Unknown, about 1 September 1482(resignation).1 (Sir George LAUDER of Haltoun was born about 1453 and died on 9 September 1513 in Battle of Flodden Field, Northumberland, England 2.)
Marriage Notes:
"Second but eldest surviving son who succeeded his eldest brother, William, who had predeceased their father without male issue. Sir George (Lauder) lived at Whitslaid, near Lauder in Berwickshire, until his father died [1507]. He then inherited the family lands, as the eldest surviving son and heir, and took the territorial designation 'of Haltoun'.
There was an Instrument of resignation dated 1st September 1482 by Alexander Lauder of Haltoune, Knt., of lands in favour of George Lauder, son and apparent heir of said Alexander Lauder, and Katharine Somerwell [Somerville], his spouse. Witnesses: Laurence, Lord Oliphant, Robert Scheney [Shannon], Robert Drummond, Mr Walter Drummond, Patrick Erskin [Erskine], James Balfour, John Stewart and John Boltone [Bolton]. There is a Crown charter of resignation in favour of George Lawder [Lauder], son and [now] heir-apparent of Alexander Lawder of Haltoune, Knt, and Katherine, his [George's] spouse, dated 8th October 1482,
In an action between Sir Alexander Lauder, the Laird of Haltoun and John, Lord Somerville, heard on 12th and 18th March 1483, his Lordship alleged that Sir Alexander had not honoured his obligations regarding his daughter's [Katherine] marriage contract terms with the said Laird's son George Lauder. Sir Alexander argued otherwise and provided the legal sasines to show same.
