The census for 1841 recorded Robert Winton with his wife, Helen, and their four children, living at Henderson's Cottages in Cowpen, a village in Northumberland not far from Blyth. Catherine Winton, second youngest of the children, was recorded as aged 4 years and had been born in Scotland.
In 1861 Cathen Tragheim was living at 5 Gloucester Street, Elswick, according to the census of that year for Newcastle of Tyne. She lived with her husband and her two children, one aged 2 years the other 5 months, and her sister, Elizabeth. She was 23 years old and had been born in Dundee.
Catherine Tragheim gave notice of her daughter, Mary Jane's death before the registrar, David Beatson, at Edinburgh on 27 January 1869.
In 1871 the census for Edinburgh, St George, found Catherine Tragheim and two of her children living at 37 William Street. Catherine was a widow aged 32 years. She had been born in Dundee and now worked as a machinist.

George Wright, widower, who had been present where the death occurred, gave notice of Catherine's death before the registrar, P. Goldie, at Lasswade on 9 March 1914. 4

The marriage was celebrated according the forms of the Church of Scotland. A minister of the Free Church, Edinburgh, John Hunter, conducted the ceremony. James Winton and Hellen Robertson were the witnesses.
John Tragheim, aged 22 years and unmarried, of 92 High Street, was a shoemaker by trade. His mother and father were recorded as Menere Tragheim and Tontine Rengnistek. His father was a clothier by occupation and alive. His mother was deceased.
Catherine Winton, aged 19 years and of the same address, was a stay maker. She was unmarried. Her father was deceased.

The marriage took place ,after banns, according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. The minister was Thomas McLaughlan. The witnesses were Alexander Wright and Jessie Forbes.
George Wright was a bachelor of 31 years of age. He resided at No 15 of No 2 Tenement of Begg's Building, Abbey House, Edinburgh. He worked as an iron moulder. His parents, Thomas Wright, a sawyer by trade, and Margaret Brown were still living.
Catherine Winton or Traghiam was a widow of 32 years of age. She was a machiniste [sic]. She lived at Freer Street, Fountainbridge, Edinburgh. Her father, Robert Winton, was deceased.
The marriage was registered on 4 January 1873 at Edinburgh, John Minto the signing registrar.
