"David Auchmoutie of Easter Fernie and of that Ilk succeeded his father and was served heir to him in the lands of Auchmouthie on 18 January 1615, then in those of Easter Fernie on 18 March following. He m. Janet, daughter of John Lindsay of Balcarres, (c/m February & March 1616. She was bap. at Edinburgh, on 17 August 1589), and dying at Hallhill, on 9 January 1650, he was interred at the kirk of Newburn on the 15th following."
