There is an entry in the Presbytery of Aberdeen, 'Toune and Freedom of Aberdeen', showing a servant named 'Hary Elphinstone, among the many merchabts of Aberdeen. He is listed in the household of 'John Allardes, yor., baillie', John Allardes has a household comprising himself, his wife and their four children, his father, and four servants, of which Hary is one and the only male. 'No fee' follows his name.

The 'John Allardes' in question may be the future Provost of Aberdeen, whose mother was the sister of Provost Alexander Walker. ⁵

Henry married Agnes FORBES, daughter of Sir John FORBES 5th of Monymusk, 3rd Baronet and Barbara DALMAHOY, on 9 January 1714 in Monymusk parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. (Agnes FORBES was baptised on 9 February 1680 in Monymusk parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland ⁶.)
