"Thomas Forbes .... By his first wife, above-mentioned, he had three sons : Arthur, major in the service of the States General of Holland, Charles and Alexander, but none of them succeeded to Echt, which had been sold to Duff of Braco in 1726."

Arthur married Judith MINNECKS.1 (Judith MINNECKS was born about 1715.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Echt passed into the hands of another branch of the Forbes family, descended from Waterton. (See p. 424.) They purchased it from the Earl of Fife.

Major Arthur Forbes, his (Thomas Forbes's) eldest son, succeeded in 1751 under a deed of entail executed in 1706 by Sir Charles Maitland of Pitrichie, his maternal grandfather, to the estate of Pitrichie, in the Parish of Udny, last held by his cousin, Charles Maitland, M.P. and advocate, who was at the battle of Inverurie. Arthur Forbes thereupon assumed the name and arms of Maitland.

He married Judith, daughter of Richard Minnecks, a Dutch lady, and had a son, Thomas Maitland. He died 1766, being succeeded by a grandson, who sold Pitrichie."
