MURRAY, Helen 1

  • Born: About 1434
  • Marriage (1): SETON, Alexander 4th of Parbroath, Sir 1

   User ID: K802.

Helen married Sir Alexander SETON 4th of Parbroath, son of Sir Gilbert SETON 3rd of Parbroath, scutifer of James I of Scots and Marion PITCAIRN.1 (Sir Alexander SETON 4th of Parbroath was born about 1428.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Sir Alexander Seton married Helen, daughter of Sir William Murray of Tullibardine,"

from Family of Seton

Note:

The Scots Peerage, volume 1, lists Helen Murray as the daughter of Sir William Murray of Castleton but the dates do not support this. Their son, and apparent heir of his father, married Catherine Lindsay, and both must have been born in the middle of the 15th century. Helen's son died at Flodden in 1513 and Sir William Murray of Castleton is also said to have died at Flodden, so it is unlikely he was her father. 1
