  • Marriage (1): MURRAY, Helen 1
  • Marriage (2): CRICHTON, Katherine 1

   User ID: K796.

Alexander married Helen MURRAY, daughter of William MURRAY of Tullibardine, Sheriff of Perth and Margaret GRAY.1 (Helen MURRAY was born about 1434.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Sir Alexander Seton married Helen, daughter of Sir William Murray of Tullibardine,"

from Family of Seton

Note:

The Scots Peerage, volume 1, lists Helen Murray as the daughter of Sir William Murray of Castleton but the dates do not support this. Their son, and apparent heir of his father, married Catherine Lindsay, and both must have been born in the middle of the 15th century. Helen's son died at Flodden in 1513 and Sir William Murray of Castleton is also said to have died at Flodden, so it is unlikely he was her father. 1

Alexander next married Katherine CRICHTON.1 (Katherine CRICHTON was born about 1448.)

  Marriage Notes:

" .... from entries in the Great Seal Register, respectively dated 1472 and 1498, his (Sir Alexander Seton's) second wife, by whom he had a son Mungo, appears to have been Katherine Crichton (4 Lib. vii. No. 275, and Lib. xiv. No. 140)."
