Marriage Notes: "John Stewart, 3rd of Stix, had an Instrument of Sasine from John Stewart, Earl of Atholl, for the lands of Middlesticks, Rynychtnuik, Bowlands, Drowne of Stickis, Croftmoran and Garff in Glenquoich, 'according to the old tenor of infeftment in favour of the deceased John Stewart, his father' on 3 November, 1536, and m. by this date to Matilda Johnston (she was widow of Sir John Rattray of that Ilk, who had d. at the battle of Flodden in September of 1513) .... He was father of, 2a} John Stewart, legitimated in an act under the Great Seal of King James V. on 6 March, 1540 ....2a}(2b?)
