Patrick married Younger daughter VAUX co-heiress of Dirleton, daughter of William VAUX and Unknown.1 2 (Younger daughter VAUX co-heiress of Dirleton was born about 1355.)

  Marriage Notes:

"He (Patrick Hepburn, younger) married a daughter and co-heir of the family of Vaux or de Vallibus, Lords of Dirlton, with whom he got a great accession to his estate. Patrick, first Earl of Bothwell, his descendant, quartered a bend for Vaux with his paternal coat in 1498. Patrick, third Earl, bore the same in 1538, and James, fourth Earl, in 1567. He had issue three sons"

from Scots Peerage (vol 2)

"the second daughter was married to Sir Patrick Hepburn, younger, of Hailes, ancestor to the well known Earl of Bothwell, the husband of Mary, Queen of Scots, the Earl of Bothwell quartered the arms of Vaux, " argent a bend gules" in his atchievement. The Lords Ruthven, Home and Ker of Faudenside, all quartered the arms of Vaux."

from Family of Vaux 1 2

Patrick next married Christian DE GOURLAY, daughter of William DE GOURLAY and Daughter MURE.3 (Christian DE GOURLAY was born about 1368.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Christian Keith died, without issue, before 1402, and in that event, in accordance with the terms of Sir William Mure's charter [confirmed by King Robert II in 1381-82] the property named was to revert to his lawful daughters, unless Sir William Lindsay married again and had lawful issue by his second wife.

.... his second wife was Dame Christian, lady of Wauchton, the mother of Sir Patrick and Alexander Hepburn [who are named in charters as brothers of Sir John Lindsay], and there is evidence in the charters of the Earls of Haddington and the 'Registrum Honoris de Morton' to justify the assumption that Patrick Hepburn younger of Hailes, who was slain in 1402, was their father, by his second wife Dame Christian."
