David married Catherine PRIMROSE 29 October 1663(contract).1 (Catherine PRIMROSE was born about 1645 and died in October 1677 1.)

"He (David Carnegie) married, first (contract 29 October 1663), Catherine, daughter of Sir Archibald Primrose of Carrington, Baronet, Lord Clerk Register, and afterwards Lord Justice-General of Scotland, who brought him a tocher of 15,000 merks. By her, who died in October 1677, he had issue"

David next married Katharine GORDON, daughter of Robert GORDON 6th of Pitlurg and Katherine BURNET, 29 October 1694(contract).1 (Katharine GORDON was born about 1644, died by 4 November 1692 1 2 and was buried on 4 November 1692 in Montrose parish, Angus, Scotland 1.). The cause of her death was consumption.


  Marriage Notes:

"Sir David married, secondly (contract 29 October 1684), Catherine, daughter of Robert Gordon of Pitlurg, and widow of Robert, second Viscount of Arbuthnott. Sir David infeft his wife in liferent in the lands of Redhall, Balfeiche, Pittingairdner, and others ; while she assigned to him her jointure lands of Bervie and others. Sir David did not get on well with Lady Arbuthnott, and in consequence revoked a bond for 2000 merks in her favour, and also a deed which he had previously granted, empowering her to take the furniture of Pittarrow House if he predeceased her, which bond and deed, he says, were elicited from him by her restless importunity. She died of consumption 1692, and was buried in the church at Montrose on 4 November of that year. At her request Sir David mortified the sum of a hundred merks for the poor of the parish of Bervie. She bore one son, Robert"

David next married Jean BURNET, daughter of James BURNET of Monboddo and Elizabeth IRVINE, 9 and 30 April 1697(bond).1 (Jean BURNET was born about 1668, died in 1740 1 and was buried on 15 May 1740 in Montrose parish, Angus, Scotland 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Sir David married, thirdly, about 1696, Jean, daughter of James Burnett of Monboddo. They married apparently without any written contract, but by a bond, dated 9 and 30 April 1697, Sir David conveyed to her in liferent the lands of Redhall, Balfeich, Pittengairdner, and others, to provide her with a sum of money in lieu of her third of the moveables. She survived him, and was buried at Montrose 15 May 1740. By her he had issue"
