Thomas married Joanna MONTGOMERY, daughter of Sir John MONTGOMERIE of Eaglesham and Unknown.1 (Joanna MONTGOMERY was born about 1366.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (Thomas Boyd) married Joanna Montgomery, said to be daughter of Sir John Montgomery of Ardrossan, by his wife, Margaret Maxwell. They were both buried at Kilmarnock."

Note: The dates suggest Joanna was of an earlier generation than that stated above, possibly the sister rather than the daughter of Sir John Montgomery married to to Margaret Maxwell. The latter couple had a papal dispensation to marry in 1414, yet Joanna's son is said to have been confined by the king in Dalkeith in 1424. 1
