"Sir Thomas Boyd of Kilmarnock, eldest son of the preceding (Sir Robert Boyd, companion of Robert the Bruce), had a grant from King David II. of the forfeiture of William Carpentar, and afterwards accompanied that monarch to the battle of Neville's Cross, near Durham, 17 October 1346, where he was taken prisoner."
