"Captain Robert left a son, Captain Duncan, who was served heir to him in 1741, but, dying in 1742 without issue, was succeeded by his brother Charles, he himself never having made up a title to the estates. Charles, 2nd son of the hero of Sheriffmuir, had a son who became Colonel Duncan and married Jane or Jean Gordon, daughter of Sir William Gordon of Park and his wife Janet, second daughter of the first Lord Fife."
