OGILVY, John 8th of Inverquharity 1User ID: M654. General Notes: "He (John Ogilvy) was a leading supporter of the Reformation in Scotland. Member of the Parliament of 1560. Imprisoned in Blackness Castle in mid 1580's as a Rebel for his support of Strathmore and killing of Alexander Lindsay. Alive in 1586 but deceased before 11 Aug 1587." John married Isabel OGILVY, daughter of John OGILVY of Balnagarrow and Unknown, about 1541.1 (Isabel OGILVY was born about 1512.) Marriage Notes: "John married Isabel Ogilvy in 1541 at which time he was heir apparent of Inverquharity. They were granted lands in conjunct fee. John Ogilvy of Ballinsho the uncle of John granting them the eastern half of the lands of Easter Ballinsho on 10 November 1541.[1] On the same date his father granted them conjunct fee of the lands of Little Migvie and the eastern part of the lands of Ludinch.
