"John's brother Walter Ogilvy of Lintrathen resigned his lands of Inverquharity and gifted them to John. At Dundee on 3 June 1420, William Douglas the earl of Angus granted confirmation of the charter of Walter Ogilvy lord of Lintrathen, made to John Ogilvy, his brother, of all the lands of Inverquharity, in the barony of Kirriemuir and sheriffdom of Forfar ; to be held to him, his heirs, successors, and assignees, from the said Walter. [2] This was also confirmed later by a Royal Charter along with two other charters. The second was signed at the town house of Dundee on 31 March 1422 when William Douglas earl of Angus granted his faithful armiger, John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, the lands of Crieff, Kirriemuir[3]"

John married Marion SETON, daughter of Sir William SETON Lord of that Ilk and First WIFE.1 (Marion SETON was born about 1379.)


  Marriage Notes:

"The assumption that John's wife was Marion Seaton is supported by the following transaction. On 18 January 1429/30, a Precept of sasine by William Douglas, Earl of Angus, was granted in favour of Alexander Seaton of Gordon, of lands of Newton, Herdhill, Balbrydie, Kinnordy, Mains and Easter Lednathy. The seals of the Earl and John Ogilvy, as bailie of the barony of Kirriemuir, were appended. Subsequently, on 15 January 1434/35, Alexander Seaton of Gordon granted a Charter by in favour of Alexander Ogilvy, son and heir of John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, of above lands. [4]"
