"He (Robert Colville) married, before February 1450-51, Christian Crichton, daughter of Sir Robert Crichton of Sanquhar, who survived him, marrying, before 9 October 1466, as his first wife, Alexander Erskine, afterwards third Lord Erskine. She died between November 1477 and March 1477-78, as appears from a statement by her husband. Sir Robert had issue, so far as known, one son ..."

Christian next married Alexander ERSKINE 3rd Lord Erskine, 15th Earl of Mar, son of Sir Thomas ERSKINE 2nd Lord Erskine, 14th Earl of Mar and Janet DOUGLAS, by 9 October 1466.^{1 2} (Alexander ERSKINE 3rd Lord Erskine, 15th Earl of Mar was born about 1438 and died before 10 May 1509 ¹.)

"Alexander, third Lord Erskine, succeeded his father in 1493, though he appears on record at a much earlier date, on 9 October 1466, when a judgment was given in favour of himself and his wife in a dispute with Lord Cathcart as to the office of bailiary of the barony of Ochiltree, who was directed to renounce the same."
