"Alexander, third Lord Erskine, succeeded his father in 1493, though he appears on record at a much earlier date, on 9 October 1466, when a judgment was given in favour of himself and his wife in a dispute with Lord Cathcart as to the office of bailiary of the barony of Ochiltree, who was directed to renounce the same." "Lord Erskine married, first, before 1466, Christian daughter of Sir Robert Crichton of Sanquhar, widow of Sir Robert Colville of Ochiltree, by whom he had issue." (pages 607 and 608)

"Elyne or Helen, married, first (contract 2 February 1448), to Adam Hepburn, eldest son of Patrick, Lord Hailes. Sir Alexander Home had an acquittance from Patrick, Lord Hailes, of all sums due by reason of the marriage of his son Adam to Elyne, daughter of Sir Alexander, dated 3 February 1460-61. Elyne or Helen Home had a numerous family by the Master of Hailes, who died in 1479 ; she married, secondly,
before 15 July 1480, as his second wife, Alexander Erskine, son and heir-apparent of Thomas Lord Erskine, without issue."
