General Notes:
"William (Haliburton) was listed in in the deed of James, Archbishop of St Andrews appointing the executors of George Haliburton of Pitcur on 17 June 1538 and his placing suggests he was the eldest of the children by Janet Ogston. [1 NRS GD45/17/8]
He appears to have deceased about 1551. His spouse is not discovered but he had a son John.
In will of George Haliburton of Pitcur in 1597 gives Legacies (includes) provisions to James, William and Thomas Halyburton his sons, to John son to the deceased William Halyburton his uncle, to Dame Elizabeth Learmonth his spouse, to the widow of Thomas Halyburton in [Gairdrum]."

There must have been a reason why John, William's son did not inherit from his grandfather, or father, if William Haliburton was in fact heir. John may have been unfit, or he may have been born outside of marriage. 2
William married Elizabeth MAULE, daughter of Robert MAULE of Panmure, Sheriff of Angus and Isobel MERCER.1 (Elizabeth MAULE was born about 1520.)
