Jane married Walter OGSTON of that Ilk and of the Craigs, son of John OGSTON of the Craigs, Sheriff-depute of Aberdeenshire and Daughter ABERNETHY.^{1 2} (Walter OGSTON of that Ilk and of the Craigs was born about 1452 and died after 10 October 1488 ¹.)

"The History has sufficiently told how Walter Ogistoun of that Ilk, and who was also of the Crags, married Jane Scrymgeour, and left at his death two daughters -1st, Elizabeth, and, 2nd, Janet, his coheiresses : how Sir Adam Hepburn, Master of the King's Stables, was appointed their guardian by the King : and how he brought their affairs into good order, and married Elizabeth, the elder of the two."

"Walter (Ogston) was designed of that Ilk when he appeared before the Lords of Council on 17 March 1482/3.[Acts of Lords of Council in Civil Causes]

He has sasine of Ogston in Moray and Eglismaldy in Kincardineshire in 1483. Walter married Janet Scrymgeour, a daughter of John (see Note) Scrymgeour of Dudhope perhaps about 1475 and they had three daughters, Elizabeth born about 1476 Christian who died young Janet who was joint heiress with her elder sister Elizabeth

Walter died about the close of the 1480's leaving his widow Janet and three daughters."

Note:

Since the above secondary source does not name the mother of Walter Ogston's wife, it is unclear who exactly Walter's wife's parents were.

There was a John Scrymgeour who lived till after 1466 who had three wives, but, even assuming his third wife was the mother of Jane/Janet, the dates for this are still problematic. They suggest, in the absence of other firm evidence, that Jane/Janet may have been the daughter of James, not John, Scrymgeour. James succeeded his father before 13 August 1463. Jane/Janet is not listed in the relevant article in The Scots Peerage. ^{1 2 3}
