  General Notes:

"After some delays in the payment of the first instalment of the price, a conveyance was executed
on the 24th March 1 G66, at Edinburgh, by Lachkn
Mackintosh of Torcastle in fjivour of Archibald,
Earl of Argyle. This nobleman advanced the purchase
money, Locheil\emdashwho, according to the Kinrara
MS., acted all along for the earl\emdashbeing
unable to do so ; and it was arranged that the lands
should thenceforth be held by Locheil and his
successors in feu of the Argyle family.
The money which he acquired by the sale enabled
Mackintosh to clear his estate of considerable burdens,
and to obtain the discharge of all servitudes
due to the Gordons.


Lachlan married Magdalene LINDSAY, daughter of John LINDSAY Baron of Glenesk and Jean CARNEGIE.1 (Magdalene LINDSAY was born about 1652.)

Lachlan next married Anne MUNRO, daughter of Sir George MUNRO 1st of Newmore and Unknown.1 (Anne MUNRO was born about 1655.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Lachlan (Mackintosh) was twice married .... by his second, Anne, dau. of Sir George Munro of Culrain, and widow of Donald, Muster of Reay, he had a daughter. Christian, who m. David Dunbar of Dunphail."

Note:

Anne's father was known as Sir George Munro of Newmore, and his lands did include Culrain. George Munro 1st of Culrain was Anne's brother, not her father.
