IRVINE, Alexander of Murthill, then 13th of Drum
(About 1655-1720) |
IRVINE, Alexander of Murthill, then 13th of Drum 1 2 3User ID: Z899. General Notes: "Alexander Irvine of Murthill now succeeded to the estate of Drum, according to the entail made by Alexander Irvine (11th Laird) of Drum, who died in 1687. By that deed this distant branch of the Irvines was interpolated before the direct heirs male to which Drum and the other family estates had been formerly destined. The Murthill Irvines, as they were called\emdash this Alexander Irvine, his son, and his brother\emdash possessed Drum for the next forty years, in the course of which they alienated the greater part of the estates, and left the place in great dilapidation. They were ungrateful to the memory of him who had preferred them to the succession, and unjust to the interests of those who were to succeed them in the property." Noted events in his life were: 1. Laird, 1696-1720, of Drum. 1 Alexander married Jean IRVINE, daughter of Alexander IRVINE 11th of Drum and Marie GORDON, in 1694.1 (Jean IRVINE was born about 1660.) Marriage Notes: "(6) Jean, who, some years after her father's death, was married to Alexander Irvine of Murthill, afterwards of Drum" (page 131) |
