"12 Feb 1680

Post-nuptial Marriage Contract between David Forbes, advocate, second son of John Forbes of Culloden, with consent of Catherine Clerk, his spouse, daughter of deceased John Clerk of Penniecuik [Penicuik], on the one part, and Duncan Forbes, fiar of Culloden, brother of said David, and Thomas Dunbar of Grainge [Grange], uncle of said David, on the other, whereby said Duncan and Thomas bind themselves to pay to said David and Catherine the sum of 28,050 merks, the said David binds himself to secure half his conquest lands to himself and said Catherine in liferent, and the whole of said conquest to the heirs male of the marriage, whereon said Catherine assigns the bonds specified to said Duncan and Thomas"
