"Duncan Forbes, born 1572, Provost of Inverness, bought the Bucht about 1626, Culloden from the Laird of Mackintosh in 1638, and Ferintosh in 1653. He married Janet, eldest daughter of James Forbes of Corsindae, by whom he had three sons : John , James of Caithness, and Duncan of Assynt ; and two daughters, Elizabeth, married William Baillie of Dunain, Inverness-shire, and Anna, married (1) Ewan Macpherson of Cluny, and (2) Alex. Mackintosh of Connage."
