In his death certificate of 1894 Alexander Gartshore was recorded as 75 years old at death, a "Cotton Weaver Widower of Jane Stirling". Both of his parents were dead.
Alexander Gartshore was recorded as a cotton weaver, and deceased, in the 1899 marriage certificate of his daughter Janet. 11

James Gartshore, Alexander's son, who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar at Kirkintilloch on 3 May 1894. 10
