David McGeorge was the third of five children living at 1 Cameron's Court in the Anderston area of Glasgow as recorded by the 1851 census. He was recorded as aged 15 years, and born in Kilmarnock. He worked as a woolcomber's apprentice.

David McGeorge was not recorded in the family entry of the 1861 census. By that time he was married and living with his wife Barbara at 94 West St Kingston Terrace, Tradeston, Glasgow. ^{2 3 6}

David married Barbara LIVINGSTON on 4 December 1860 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Scotland.¹ (Barbara LIVINGSTON was born about 1833 in Islay, Argyll, Scotland ³.)
