"Peterhead Sentinel and General Advertiser for Buchan District - Tuesday 15 August 1893, p4: METHLICK DEATH OF A CELEBRATED VIOLINIST The death of Mr Charles Hardie, a well-known violinist, took place at 15 Hartington Road, Aberdeen, last week. He was a native of Methlick, and at one time an employee of Messrs G.W.Wilson & Co photographers, Aberdeen. His brother was James Hardie, the celebrated violin maker of Edinburgh. Deceased was for many years one of the foremost exponents of our national music. He was buried in Methlick Churchyard."
