  General Notes:

The 1841 census for Muirkirk parish, Ayrshire, recorded Adam Whyte, both 26 years old, and their three children, Helen, Thomas and Janet, aged 6,4 and 2 years respectively, living in Main Street. Adam worked as a tailor. All were born in Ayrshire, except Adam. A young man, James Jardine, aged 15 years, a tailor's apprentice also lived with the family.

Adam Whyte, son of the deceased woman, gave notice of his mother Janet's death before the registrar at Muirkirk on the 28 April 1863. ^{5 7}

Adam married Agnes JARDINE. (Agnes JARDINE was born about 1815 in Kirkoswald Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland ^{3 4 7}.)
