  General Notes:

GORDONS IN CLATT: Gordons of Tillyangus to Gordons of Auchlyne

"A William Gordon got sasine in Tillyangus in 1663-1664. Also a William Gordon and spouse got sasine in Tillyangus 19 March 1674. But Harry Gordon of Auchlyne [in parish of Clatt, and of the Terpersie family] got sasine in Tillyangus same date, probably in connection with some money transaction... Soon afterwards it seems to have been acquired by a Forbes, one of the great family which the Gordons were long at feud with. For in the Poll Book 1696 under 'Telongous, parish of Clatt' we find 'William Forbes, heritor, valuation ,£125 : his poll £4:6:0: his wife and daughter 12/-' (Vol. I., p. 471.)"

from Memorials of the Family of the Gordons of Craig

Note:

As well as being descended from a common Gordon ancestor, the Gordons of Tillyangus and those of Auchlyne shared a common ancestor in Patrick Stewart of Laithers whose two daughters married Gordons in the respective families.

Harry married Marjorie INNES 'of Tillbourie'.1 (Marjorie INNES 'of Tillbourie' was born about 1633.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Harry Gordon, I. of Auchlyne, in the parish of Clatt, Aberdeenshire, was the youngest son of William Gordon, III. of Terpersie. Very little is known about him. 'Harie Gordoune of Auchlyne' was one of the heritors who met at Aberdeen on December 2, 1659, and elected Charles Lord Aboyne to act as Commissioner to confer with General Monck at Berwick (Records of Aboyne, p. 323). 'Auchlyne elder' appears in the Poll Book, 1696, with £180 as the valuation of Auchlyn. His 'lady' and daughter are also mentioned. According to the Balbithan MS. Harry Gordon 'dyed and was buried in the Church of Clatt'. He died May, 1707 (Services of Heirs).

He married Marjory, 'Innes of Tillbourie's daughter, with whom he begat three sons and a daughter' (Balbithan MS.)"
