"Gordon, James, of Cobairdy,

Son of Sir James Gordon 2nd Baronet of Park, by his second wife Margaret Elphinstone, widow of George Leslie of Balquhain. Probably born in 1723. He married Mary Forbes, daughter of James, 15th Lord Forbes, who is described as 'a very sweet tempered woman, but not very handsome,' and by her had James, born 1742, Ernest, born 1743, and William, born 1744. He escaped to France, and in 1747 was living at Cleves. He died in Aberdeen on 11 May 1773."
