"Testament of Alexander GARTSHORE: Alexander GARTSHORE of that Ilk, 26 August 1749; "Testament... and inventory umquhile Alexander GARTSHORE, (who deceased May 1749)... faithfully made and given up by Ann HOUSTON, relict of the said defunct, and Executor Nominate by him... I Alexander GARTSHORE of that Ilk, considering my real estate is under entail... leave and bequeath my moveable goods and gear; plenishing, corns, cows etc... to.. my well beloved spouse.. and nominate her my sole executor.. hereby debarring my nearest in kin and all others. Unfortunately, the next of kin are not mentioned. There is reference to a marriage contract dated 11 JUL 1718; presumably Alexander GARTSHORE married Ann HOUSTON at about that date."
