The 1841 census for Glasgow St Mungo, Lanarkshire, recorded Patrick Vally living with his family in Drygate Street. He was recorded as 4 years of age and had been born in Ireland.

In 1851 Patrick Valley was recorded living with his family at 4 Parliamentary Road Glasgow. He had been born in Ireland and was 16 years old. He worked as a factory labourer.

The 1861 census for Dundee, Angus recorded Patrick Vallelly living with his mother and two sisters at 24 Mid Wynd. He was a mill overseer and aged 24 years. He had been born in County Tyrone, Ireland.

In 1864 Patrick Vallely was one of the witnesses at the marriage of his sister Helen in Dundee.

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father George Davidson Catholic Clergyman. The witnesses were James MacKie and Henry Vallely.

Patrick Vallely was a bachelor of 23 years of age. He worked as a spinning foreman. He lived at Burnside Street Lochee in Dundee. His father was deceased.

Mary Kean was a millworker. She was 21 years of age and of the same address as Patrick Vallely. She was unmarried.

The marriage was registered on 30 August 1864 at Lochee, James Waddell being the registrar. 1
