By 1891 Alexander Fowlie was a farm over seer, living with his family in Drums ? Cottage in the parish of Foveran, Aberdeenshire. They had two more children, Agnes and Mary.

In his son Alick's 1898 marriage certificate Alexander was recorded as a carter.

The 1901 census recorded the Fowlie family living in the parish of Old Machar in Aberdeenshire. They had one addition to their family, George. A granddaughter was also recorded in the household. ^{4 5 6 7}

Alexander married May HARDY, daughter of William HARDIE Farmer, and Fiddler and Mary STRACHEN, on 26 March 1875 in Methlick parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^{1 2} (May HARDY was born on 8 August 1854 in Methlick parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland ⁴, baptised on 20 August 1854 in Methlick parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, died on 1 November 1901 in Summerhill, Slochel, Aberdeen, Scotland ^{9 10} and was buried in 1901 in Methlick parish Churchyard, Aberdeenshire, Scotland ⁹.). The cause of her death was acute croupous pneumonia over 5 days and diarrhoea.
