Margaret married Archibald DOUGLAS 6th Earl of Angus, son of George DOUGLAS Master of Angus and Elizabeth DRUMMOND, 26 June 1509(contract).1 (Archibald DOUGLAS 6th Earl of Angus was born about 1489, died on 22 January 1557 in Tantallon Castle, Scotland 2 and was buried in 1557 in Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland 2.). The cause of his death was attack of erysipelas.

"The sixth Earl was three times married. First, to Margaret Hepburn, daughter of Patrick, first Earl of Bothwell, by whom he had no surviving issue, and she died
in 1513."

"Margaret Hepburne, who was married, contract dated 26 June 1509, to Archibald Douglas (son of George, Master of Angus), who afterwards succeeded as sixth Earl of Angus. The contract of marriage is preserved in the Buccleuch charter-chest. John, Prior of St. Andrews, George, Abbot of Aberbrothok, Adam Hepburne of the Craggis, and Mr. George Hepburne, Dean of Dunkeld, were parties on behalf of Adam, Earl of Bothwell, brother of the bride. She died in 1513, it is said, in childbed, leaving no surviving issue."
