"John Forbes of Bithnie, third son of William F. of Craigievar, and Margaret, daugh. of Nicol Udward, Lord Provost of Edinburgh; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen; adm. before 20th Oct. 1641; app. by the General Assembly 26th Aug. 1647, min. for Colonel Scott's Regiment; was a member of the Assembly that year. Joined the Protesters in 1651; died between 20th Oct. 1657 and 21st April 1658. He marr. Agnes, eldest daugh. of William Duguid of Auchinhove, and had issue Henry; Elizabeth (marr.
