The 1901 census for Glasgow recorded Agnes McCafferty, a charwoman, living at 29 Bridgegate, with her husband, her daughter and her grandson. She was 48 years of age and had been born in Glasgow.

Agnes died in hospital in 1913. Her residence was noted as 23 St Andrew's Square Glasgow and her age at death was recorded as 57 years. She was a "Hardware Hawker married to James McCafferty Asphalter's Labourer". Both of her parents were deceased.

Lawrence Stewart MB ChB certified the cause of death.

R.A.McKellar, the deceased's daughter, of 29 Marshall Street Calton, gave notice of her death.


Agnes married James McCAFFERTY Dockworker and Asphalter, son of James McCAFFERTY Coal Carrier and Catherine HAVERON, on 6 September 1880 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Great Clyde Street, Glasgow, Scotland. (James McCAFFERTY Dockworker and Asphalter was born about 1848 in County Down, Ireland 1 and died 17 July 1923 at 7.00 am in 133 Balornock Road, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of his death was pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic bronchitis and senility.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Alex. Munro C.C. married the couple. William Fleming and Maggie McPherson were witnesses.

James McCafferty was aged 32 years and single. He worked as a slater's labourer.

Agnes Berry, who made her X mark, was a cotton factory worker. She was single and aged 28 years. Her father was deceased.

Both bride and groom gave their address as 122 Saltmarket Glasgow.

The marriage was registered on 10 September 1880.
