James Berry was recorded by the 1851 census living at 25 Kirk Street Gorbals Glasgow with his wife, Agnes, and his son Francis, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Agnes. He was a wood sawyer who had been born in Ireland and was recorded as 41 years of age.

James married Agnes DAWSON. (Agnes DAWSON was born about 1815 in Stirling, Scotland and died after 6 September 1880.)
