V dated at Linlithgow on 8/12/1531 whereby the King confirms the sale by Robert Innes of Invermarky to Patrick Leith of Harthill and his wife Jonete Leslie of (rough translation from Latin) a quarter part of the shady half of the lands of Auchlevin [Auchleven] with a quarter part of the brewery, mill, tofts and crofts of the same; the 4 oxgates of Ardune [Ardoyne] and Buchquhanstoun [Buchanstone] with the toft and croft of the same at the mill of Buchquhanstoun; one oxgate in Hairlaw, all in the lordship of Garioch, to be held of the King in conjunct fee and to the heirs male procreated between said Patrick and Jonete, whom failing the nearest legitimate heirs of Patrick whomsoever." Research Notes: HARTHILL CASTLE Patrick married Janet JOHNSTON, daughter of James JOHNSTON of that Ilk and Clara BARCLAY. (Janet JOHNSTON was born about 1510.) Marriage Notes: "Patrick Leith of Edingarroch, eldest son, married, without issue, Janet, daughter of James Johnston of Caskieben, and died before 1550." |
