GORDON, Elizabeth 1

  • Born: About 1460
  • Marriage (1): LEITH, Henry 4th of Barnes 1

   User ID: W744.

Elizabeth married Henry LEITH 4th of Barnes, son of Norman LEITH 3rd of Barnes and Elizabeth LESLIE.1 (Henry LEITH 4th of Barnes was born about 1457.)

  Marriage Notes:

"IV. Henry Leith of Barnes had George of Barnes; William of Edingarroch, ancestor of Leith of Leith-hall ; Patrick, first of Harthill ; and another son, ancestor of Leith of Montgarrie. Henry died before 1479 ; his widow, Elizabeth Gordon, in 1505, resigned certain rights over Pittodrie and part of Pitscurrie."

from Inverurie

Note:

If we follow this text with regard to the death of a 'Henry Leith', then there must have been two of that name. For, if Patrick Leith, 1st of Harthill, died in 1597, as is maintained for example in The Leiths of Harthill, then he could not have been born before 1479. If there were two generations of 'Henry Leith', the elder must have died in in 1479, and the younger, this one, before 1505.
