The baptism narrative does not identify the father of the child by any additional designation other than 'George Gordon'. Only five children baptised in Clatt parish between 1670 and 1710 have a father of that name, and the other four children baptised between 1687 and 1694 in Clatt are all children of this father. ^{1 2}
