  General Notes:

Agnes, when marrying Francis McInerney in November 1860, was recorded as 30 years of age. She was also recorded as a spinster, yet she used the name Walsh, not her father's name, Murie.

The 1871 entry for the family suggests Agnes had been married to or had a relationship with someone whose surname was Welsh, since her husband, Francis, has two step daughters called Welsh. Agnes was aged 40 years at the 1871 census. No occupation for her was given.

In 1880 when Agnes died, her death certificate named her as Agnes McNairney, wife of Francis, nee Murrie, and Walsh by her first marriage. Her recorded age was 50 years.

In 1929 when her son, Michael, died, his death certificate recorded his mother as 'Agnes McNairney previously Welsh MS Murie (deceased)'. 1 2

Agnes married John WELSH in June 1850 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (John WELSH was born about 1830 and died before 25 November 1860.)

Agnes next married Francis McINERNEY, son of Michael McNERNY and Elizabeth GRIBBEN, on 25 November 1860 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Francis McINERNEY was born about 1833 in Ireland and died 30 October 1894 at 0.30 pm in 26 Alexander Street, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was bronchitis and cardiac disease.

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage between Francis and Agnes took place according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father Duncan McNab of St Margaret's Airdrie. The witnesses were Patrick McInerney and Agnes Fulton.

Francis' age was recorded as 25 years. He was a 'navie' by occupation and a bachelor. His place of residence was noted as 'Airdrie'. He made his X mark in the register.

Agnes was aged 30 years and of Airdrie, like Francis. She too was unmarried. The name 'Murie' was written for her and then crossed out. The registrar notes 'Walsh as in schedule C'.

The marriage was registered by the registrar, W. M. Landless, at Airdrie on 26 November 1860. Agnes signed the register and Francis made his X mark. 1
