"John Brodie, born about 1594, third son of David B. of Brodie; educated at King's College, Aberdeen, 1606-10; min. in 1622; was a member of Assembly in 1639; died 11th Jan. 1655. He marr. (1) 1621, Helen Colville, widow of Captain Robert Paplay : (2) Katherine Dunbar, and had issue William of Whitewreath in Elgin, served heir 4th Nov. 1656; John (posthumous), born 1st Aug. 1655; Beatrix (marr., cont. 12th Aug. 1642, William Leslie of Aikenway); Janet (marr. 1660, Sir William Dunbar of Durn)."
