General Notes: "Before Andrew's succession to Balgonie, he is listed as one of a number of persons, found guilty of involvement in the slaughter of James Borthwick, John Anderson and John Balzeat. He was escheated, and a gift of his goods, moveable and unmovable, was made by the King to Walter Lundy of that Ilk. Andrew married Janet SIBBALD of Letham, daughter of David SIBBALD of Letham, Depute-Sheriff of Fife and Unknown, before 5 May 1542.1 2 (Janet SIBBALD of Letham was born about 1515.) Marriage Notes: "Andrew was twice married. His first wife was Janet Sibbald, to who he was married to by 1549. On the 21st of October 1549, they were given a Crown Charter of the Barony of Mondynes, following Andrew's resignation." Andrew next married Janet LINDSAY of Dowhill.1 (Janet LINDSAY of Dowhill was born about 1537.) Marriage Notes: Andrew was twice married. His first wife was Janet Sibbald.... He was later to marry Janet Lindsay of Dowhill." |
