In 1901, Annie McConnochie was recorded as 7 years old by the census of that year. She was the third youngest child of the six recorded in the family that year, living in Shotts Road, Greenhill, near Cleland. She had been born in Shotts parish, as had all of her family except their father. She was a scholar. ^{1 3}
