  General Notes:

Margaret's birth, on 26 March 1881, was notified to the registrar at Salsburgh, Peter Paterson, by her father, Michael McConnochy. He made his X mark before the registrar on 14 April 1881.

The 1881 census recorded Margaret McConachy as a baby of 1 week. She was living in Greenhill Village, in the parish of Shotts, where she had been born.

Margaret McConnaghy was aged 10 years in 1891, and a scholar still, living in the home of her maternal uncle John Creaney. She was the only sister surrounded by five brothers. In addition, she had three male cousins, and one other cousin, called Margaret, like her. She had been born in Shotts parish.

Margaret died in 1920. Her death certificate stated she was 'married to Francis Cairney coal miner' and that she was aged 38 years at death. Both of her parents were then deceased.

  Medical Notes:

Charles Bannatyne MB CM certified the cause of Margaret's death.

Francis Cairney, Margaret's widower, who had been present where Margaret died, gave notice of her death before John F. Wilson, registrar, at Salsburgh on 19 March 1920.

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Patrick Hackett and the witnesses were Henry Cairney and Margaret Queen.

Francis Cairnie was an unmarried man of 22 years of age, residing at Roundknowe in the parish of Shotts. He was a coal miner. His parents, James Cairnie, a coal miner, and Isabella McRorie, were living.

Margaret McConnaghie lived in Cleland. She was aged 18 years and single. No occupation was noted for her. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Cleland on 19 April 1900. 1
